Wiltshire Citizens Advice is recruiting Trustees / Treasurer

Wiltshire Citizens Advice provides free and confidential advice throughout the county to anyone who needs our help. We also campaign for change to prevent problems happening in the first place.

During 2015/16, Wiltshire Citizens Advice helped 15,729 people with over 36,832 issues by providing advice on a wide range of topics, including welfare benefits, debt, housing, relationship matters and employment.

We make a real difference to our communities and our fundamental vision is to help ‘the people of Wiltshire successfully deal with life’s problems’.
We are currently recruiting Trustees to join our Board and help run one of the leading charities in Wiltshire. We particularly wish to complement the existing team with the following expertise:

Trustee/Treasurer – Wiltshire Citizens Advice

Position: Trustee – Financial Strategy & Management
Location: Wiltshire [Trowbridge]

Role details

We are looking for a person with experience of Strategic Financial Management to join our strong trustee group and help run our limited company as Treasurer. The trustee role is interesting, demanding and hugely valuable, giving insight into and a role in the strategic development, delivery and sustainability of our services. The role would particularly suit if you are looking to broaden your CV or have specific knowledge and skills which can be put to use in serving your local community through a reputable local charity.

We have a very capable management team and finance staff, who manage the day to day financial activity. The role of the Treasurer is to develop strategy and provide oversight of the financial management of the business. There is no requirement for formal financial qualifications, although some experience or knowledge of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes would be useful. Training and development is however available together with a very strong national Honorary Treasurers Forum.

You should be prepared to make an investment of between 5 – 8 hours per month, generally during the evenings.

For more information or an informal discussion on the role of trustee, please email Keith Johnston, Chair of Trustees at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Every local Citizens Advice is a registered charity. Different application procedures are adopted by individual local Citizens Advice. Contact the relevant one as outlined in the information about this role. You should not send an application form to national Citizens Advice.
