The free, easy to use Better Off Calculator checks what financial support you could be getting and how you might boost your income. Just enter some basic information about your income, household situation, and the calculator will show you how much better off you could be.Through just a few simple steps you can see how much benefit you are eligible for and how much better off you might be in work. You can also see how changes in your household budget can affect your income.
The calculator is suitable for most people permanently living in the UK. Calculations should be treated as a helpful estimate, as it will only be as accurate as the information entered.
You’ll find it easier and quicker to complete the calculator if you have the following bits of information to hand:
- Letters you've had from the DWP
- Bank statements
- Council Tax letters
- Wage slips

If you are an existing client and know your reference number, you can include that too. We aim to respond to you within 10 working days.
